The Presidential campaigns & events of June & July

I wanted to write about the events that are dramatically affecting the Trump and Biden Campaigns as well as taking a brief look at both Robert Kennedy Jr’s chart and Kamala Harris’s chart.

For an astrology student the events are powerfully delineated by the lineup of the planets and the candidates charts. One important piece to know that since Jupiter has moved into Gemini in May, it greatly supports Trump’s popular standing and his chances of winning, as it is transiting in his house of public standing and career, where his natal Sun Uranus conjunction are. This would happen once in twelve years. Trump has in his natal chart a very strong natal Jupiter connection with his natal Sun and Moon, supporting his popularity and good fortune.

As we enter summer, I have been watching transiting Uranus at 26 Taurus because it effects both Biden’s and Trump’s charts in dramatic ways. I am watching how the tension and unexpected crisis nature of Uranian transits are activated by the approaching Mars transit to conjunct Uranus. First the Biden’s chart on the night of the debate.

Biden’s debate performance

The first transit we might notice is the almost exact transit of Mars to oppose Biden’s natal Mars, a time of facing conflict, struggle and attack, encountering serious opposition that promotes anger and resentment. (this transit only happens once every two years.)

What creates more challenge to this transit in Biden’s chart, is that transiting Uranus is at 25 Taurus opposing his Sun, Mercury and Venus in Scorpio, setting off his T-Square with Chiron, the wounded one. Uranus opposite Biden’s Sun speaks to sudden unexpected situations that have the potential to create crisis around his very sense of self, his vitality, and identity. The transiting Uranus is activating a core wound in his chart, with the square to Chiron, feeling abandoned, or marginalized, not recognized or respected. A core wound to the way he communicates himself, views himself, and how he experiences his popularity (Venus).

In the reaction to his poor debate event, showing his frailty, fatigue, and inability to successfully respond to the questions, there was public shock and surprise, a certain facing of the reality that he did not want to admit, that his age was affecting his abilities. I then began watching for when Mars would conjunct Uranus. Looking at when that Martian force and heat activates the Uranian crisis, break down, and rebellion, would be the timing when he would be forced to give up his candidacy. But instead something else took place.

Assassination attempt on Trump

Donald Trump was also having this Uranus Mars transit activating his chart. This pair was not only transiting his midheaven, which is the point of public interface or standing, but it was also squaring his Leo Mars at his Ascendant. The conjunction brings sudden unexpected events or crisis. Mars brings heat, conflict, or violence to Uranus’s shake up and crisis. This was happening in regards to what he was striving for in public. The square to his Mars by Uranus can bring sudden accidents or injury, challenging a sense of security. With Mars squaring Mars there is conflict, and there can be an attack by someone who is acting impulsively or to prove something about themselves. This transit can potentially be a very dangerous, violent, and accident prone aspect. With the strong Jupiter transit that Trump is experiencing, he receives a protective energy from Jupiter’s influence.

Transiting Saturn is also squaring Trump’s Uranus, Nodes and Sun.This indicates that he is moving through a time where he experiences conflict and tension in regards to being free to do exactly what he wants to do. (think of him sitting in court those weeks). Something is challenging and limiting him. His desire for change (Uranus) is being thwarted by the restrictive forces of Saturn. With Saturn squaring his nodes there’s a reckoning with his past actions. There are forces that seek to limit and constrain him, through law or some adversary.

Biden comes down with Covid

Biden announces that he’s tested positive for Covid, as Mars continues to oppose his Scorpio planets, and soon to conjunct his natal Uranus, on July 22nd and 23rd. On the 18th when he tested positive, Mars opposed his natal Venus, which rules his house of health and illness, bringing on heat and fever. Will he step down as a candidate when Mars passes over his natal Uranus, July 21-24? This transit sets him up for sudden upset. It is also a transit of rebellion, and to break out of limitations. With Biden’s stellium of Scorpio planets and having Mars in Scorpio, this is a person who does not easily leave the fight. He has inner resources that he has always pulled on. He will not easily let go of his agenda with all those Scorpio planets.

Kamala Harris

Will Kamala become the Democrats choice for President? Transiting Jupiter is squaring her Uranus, so quick sudden changes may take place, as well as soon to square her Venus in mid-August, bringing more popularity. Yet during that same time, Saturn will be opposing her Venus, creating constriction, and limiting or challenging her popularity. In October, transiting Jupiter will be within 3 degrees of her Gemini Ascendant and stationary, creating more power from the Jupiter archetype of protection, success, and fulfillment. In Kamala’s progressions, she is now in the progressed full Moon stage, a time of fulfillment of goals and intentions, a flowering of her potentials.

Transiting Uranus is conjuncting Kamala’s natal Jupiter, bringing sudden, unexpected change (Uranus) and fortunate opportunities for growth and expansion (Jupiter). Jupiter rules her Pisces midheaven, her point of public standing, reputation and career. This transit shows sudden chnage, excitement about her role in the public. (This transit has been building for awhile and has been ignited by the transiting Mars, and a message being convened with transiting Mercury squaring her Jupiter (Transiting Mercury squaring Uranus brings a surprising message promoting enthusiasm).

Robert Kennedy Jr.

Kennedy is experiencing a Jupiter return, beginning in August through April 2025. This takes place once every 12 years. It opens up new possibilities for him, gives him greater confidence to do what he wants to do. This is a time for expansion in his life. Yet at the same time, Saturn will be squaring his Jupiter, from May 2024 through February 2025, which has the opposite effect to constrict and limit his possibilities and popularity. Transiting Uranus is trining his Sun, positive change and newness enters his life, sudden unexpected opportunities. Transiting Pluto conjuncts his Mercury, giving him powerful oratory skills and passion.

We see that where there is growth and popularity (Jupiter) for each of the candidates, there is also constriction, struggle, challenge (Saturn). That is because in their 20 year cycle Jupiter and Saturn are now in a tense square, their needs are conflictual, to expand, enlarge, and to limit and constrict.

At the end of October and into the beginning of November, during voting time, Mars will be opposing Pluto. This is a volatile, intense time, with compelling and driving competitiveness.
