Full Moon June 29/Astrology for July

June ends under the full Strawberry Moon – June 29

Witnessing the rising of a full Moon brings us into the mystery of this universe. It stops us with its dramatic orb of light growing above the horizon, or peaking in the night sky, showering us with its luminescence.

I remember hiking under the full Moon light in the Sierras. The landscape was transformed into sacred terrain, with the gleaming granite peaks, the sparkling of the flowing Tuolumne River, and the beautiful bare whiteness of the aspen trunks and branches, the hushing sounds of their softly clapping leaves.

For those of us who take the time to view its rising it brings awe. We can image our long ago ancestors tracking the night sky with the cycling of these full moons throughout the year.

During the solstices the Sun and Moon rise in opposite directions. Have you ever noticed that? The ancient peoples did! (check out Robin Heath’s book, “Sun, Moon, and Earth”) The Sun rises in its most northernly position at dawn, instead of due East as it does during the Equinoxes. So, the full Moon does the exact opposite when it rises near or on the summer Solstice. During this time it rises in its most southernly position. While the Sun rises high in the sky in the summer, for those long summer days, the Moon stays lower to the horizon, during its full moon time.

If you can find a place to watch this full ‘Strawberry’ Moon rise this evening, look to the southeast horizon. The Moon will be rising at 8:35 pm. There it will seem to rise slowly, hugging the horizon. As it shines to us through the Earth’s atmosphere it will appear in shades of orange. The Strawberry full Moon for the ancient peoples was the time of the ripening of the strawberries!

Jun 29 – Full Moon in Capricorn

During the summer the Sun moves through the sign Cancer, with the long periods of daylight, we seek out our tribe, find our emotional belonging, vacation with our families. We are nourished by the warmth of the Sun. This is the yearning of the sign Cancer. As the full Moon is always in the opposite sign as the Sun, we may feel the pull of this earthy Capricorn Moon.

The full Moon in Capricorn can ground our imaginings and longings, or show us where reality is very different than our hopes. This earthy Capricorn Moon supports us to feel into what wants to built, organized, or shaped into something new or real. Taking time during this period to listen to our deeper callings enables us to recalibrate how we proceed to find that fulfillment. It can be a time of casting away old judgments about ourselves that no longer serve us.

The Capricorn Cancer pairing, is fertile, holds the inner and the outer, sensitivity and responsibility, and can parent us into wholeness. It’s a careful balance between feeling and accomplishing. Mothering and Fathering. It may support us in reviewing how we are nurturing ourselves, and what can of judgments are we carrying (Capricorn) that may need to be reviewed and transformed.

The full Moon’s square to Neptune brings in empathy, and inclusive feeling, while the Capricorn teaches us positive boundaries so we don’t become overwhelmed. Instead we are alert to the larger whole. This square to Neptune calls us into conscious dreamtime, to be on the lookout for where we are feeling confused, lost, or in denial. Instead it says, “Take a swim in the ocean, and remember the creative forces running through the universe and our cells. Relax your tensions and fears. Something larger is at play. ”

This is an exceptional full Moon time, not only because of its once a year unique placement on the southernly horizon, but astrologically it highlights a time of shifting energies, planets changing signs, Mercury reversing direction, Mars entering Gemini and activating the outer planetary alignment of the Aries Vortex, challenging and shifting what is now being created as our country’s foundations, what’s being created as our own foundations.

The full Moon also is squaring Saturn, supporting our reconsideration of how we are giving form to the new beginnings now upon us collectively and personally. It asks us to slow to deepen. Saturn is the Guardian at the Threshold of birth, of change.

The full Moon takes place as Mercury changes direction and goes retrograde in deep feeling Cancer. Jupiter also changes signs, shifting from highlighting patriotic Cancer into expression, passionate Leo. Mars, the day before, shifted from Taurus to Gemini, and soon it will conjunct Uranus in Gemini, promoting some kind of break through, or sudden unexpected crisis, activating the outer planet alignment known as the Aries Vortex.

Now we may feel that we are both going backwards and forwards at the same time. Review and then breakthrough and re-review, as Mercury takes us back into the heart of Cancer, during this 250 year birthday for our country. Our core values are stimulated, stirred, moved. Who are we now? Who are we becoming? (Come hear more about this at Susan’s July monthly astrology talk, Friday, July 3rd, at 9:30 am PDT, recordings available. Sign up here).

Affirmation for Full Moon in Capricorn

“I am steady and capable to navigate this earthy journey. I keep myself centered within my own sovereignty. I have faith in my abilities.”

Jun 28 – Mars entered Gemini – Mars in Taurus was steady and enduring. Now, in Gemini, (until August 11) it feels like a release into movement, covering lots of interests and ground. Connecting with others, speaking many words.

Jun 29 – Mercury goes retrograde – at 26 Cancer. Time to reflect upon inner feelings, and take dream time to feel into situations. Mercury retrogrades back to 16 Cancer and goes direct on July 23rd. An interesting time for Mercury, for what we are considering and reviewing, as it is in Cancer from June 1 – August 9, which is a lengthy time for Mercury, who loves clarity of intellect, to be submerged in deep waters of the psyche. It’s also interesting that during election midterms Mercury is transiting all the USA planets in Cancer which includes the Sun and the Mercury Pluto opposition, putting us in a position to reconsider our values, financial situations and relations to each other.

June 29 – Jupiter leaves Cancer and enters Leo – in Leo until July 25, 2027 – For the next 12 months, Jupiter will be in Leo. Here, it supports more creative expression, more generous and wise leadership. It becomes playful and can be quite dramatic, favoring the expressive arts. It’s shadow side is pride and overdoing.

July is a potent month of planetary alignments

The outer planets, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Saturn, are forming a rare alignment of fast-moving change. Situations are shifting so quickly that it can be difficult to keep up. We may find ourselves asking: What is true? Where are we going? As situations and circumstances are changing, or being dismantled, what is trying to be born?

In July, Jupiter entering the fire sign, Leo, joins this larger planetary pattern, encouraging creativity, imagination, and new possibilities. Jupiter enlarges possibilities and the dynamics of the situation, as the timing of the planetary alignment asks us to clarify our values, to discern what is real, and to create the inner foundation from which new beginnings can take form. Breakthroughs are possible now, especially as we open to new perspectives, utilize our creative and imaginative visioning to show us a wider horizon, and what we are truly capable of.

Since May 2025, Saturn’s entrance into Aries and its conjunction with Neptune has brought the challenge of birthing new structures, personally and collectively. Saturn asks us to give form to what is emerging, while Neptune dissolves what can no longer hold. We are living through a time when old structures are being dismantled, uncertainty is rising, and what was once hidden is becoming more blatantly visible. This exposure lays the groundwork for transformation, renewal, and a deeper questioning of who we are becoming.

Saturn in Aries continues its conjunction with Neptune into January 2027. Saturn’s pressure pushes us to get to the essence of truth and to restructure our lives from a more authentic foundation. This will be especially felt by those of you with planets in the early degrees of the cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, up to about 14 degrees. It is a time of testing, deepening, and reshaping our sense of self in relationship to purpose, courage, and inner truth.

Difficult times slow us down. They ask us to contemplate our reactions, examine our responses, and learn new behaviors that support a more fulfilling and creative life. Difficult times can also feel like labor before birth. Something new is pressing to emerge. This is Saturn’s process.

The foundation of our country is shaking. The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, recently full of green slime, feels like an image of this moment: the need to see clearly what has become stagnant, neglected, or distorted. Saturn calls for discipline, follow-through, and perseverance. Jupiter in Leo and Pluto in Aquarius ask who we will become, both personally and collectively, as the old forms give way and a new vision begins to take shape.

With Mercury retrograding in Cancer through July 23, the universe calls us inward. What truly nurtures a more vital self now? What needs reviewing at the deeper layers of our being? What old behaviors need to be seen, understood, and transformed? Can we tap into that inner spring of inspiration?

During July Jupiter, Mars, and the Sun activate this larger planetary alignment. The questions before us are profound: Where can we grow? How will we engage in creating something new? Where can we heal so fresh life may emerge?

How is life inviting us into a greater adventure, one that asks us to bring forth renewed structures, renewed imagination, and more harmonious ways of living on Earth?

The Twelve signs for July 2026: Sun and Rising Signs

Aries (Mar 20-Apr 19): Dear Aries, with the Sun traveling through the water sign of Cancer until July 22, life gently draws your attention inward toward home, family, and the place within where you truly belong. This is not a month to simply push ahead. Rather, it is an invitation to strengthen your inner foundation so that future action arises from deeper wisdom rather than habit. Saturn continues its journey through Aries, asking you one of life’s most important questions: Who are you becoming? Aries naturally wants movement, momentum, and decisive action, yet Saturn slows your pace just enough for you to distinguish between what is essential and what no longer deserves your energy. Old self-judgments, unnecessary responsibilities, or ways of proving yourself may gradually fall away. What remains is quieter, steadier, and far more authentic. Mars, your ruling planet, now travels through Gemini, energizing your mind, conversations, writing, and connections with siblings, neighbors, and your local community. With Uranus newly entering Gemini, surprising insights and unexpected opportunities may arrive through a conversation, an invitation, a class, or simply seeing something from an entirely new perspective. Stay curious. A breakthrough often begins with a single new idea. The New Moon in Cancer on July 14, closely joined by Mercury retrograde, deepens the month’s inward focus. Dreams may become especially meaningful. Memories may surface for healing. Listen carefully to synchronicities, recurring thoughts, and the quiet voice beneath the noise of everyday life. Your inner world has much to teach you now. As Jupiter enters Leo, your heart begins to expand. Creativity, romance, children, artistic expression, and simple joy receive Jupiter’s generous blessing. When the Sun joins Jupiter in Leo on July 22, life begins turning outward once again. What has quietly matured within you now seeks joyful expression. This month reminds you that true courage is not only found in bold action. Sometimes it is found in the willingness to pause, listen deeply, and allow your life to reveal its next beginning.

Taurus (Apr 20-May 20): Dear Taurus, as the Sun journeys through Cancer until July 22, your attention turns toward communication, learning, relationships with siblings and neighbors, and the conversations that shape your everyday life. Cancer invites you to speak from the heart, to listen with greater compassion, and to discover through reflection the right words. Your ruling planet Venus begins the month in Leo, inviting warmth, generosity and appreciation for the people and experiences that nourish your heart. During these first days of July, home and family may become a source of joy or renewed connection. On July 9 Venus enters Virgo, encouraging practical improvements, organizing your environment, and expressing love through thoughtful acts of service. Your creative expression is enhanced through attention to details. The New Moon in Cancer on July 14, closely joined by Mercury retrograde, encourages you to revisit conversations left unfinished, reconnect with someone from the past, or reflect upon beliefs that no longer serve your growth. Dreams, journals, books, or meaningful encounters may become unexpected teachers. As Jupiter enters Leo, your attention gradually shifts toward home, family, and your inner sanctuary. During the coming year, opportunities for healing family relationships, creating a more beautiful home, or simply feeling more deeply rooted are likely to emerge. When the Sun joins Jupiter on July 22, your heart naturally turns toward those places where you feel most nourished and most yourself.

The Sun in Cancer until July 22 brings your attention to finances, personal resources, and your relationship with self-worth. Cancer asks you to nurture what truly sustains you. This is an opportunity to build a stronger inner foundation from which your many gifts can flourish. Mercury, your ruling planet, retrogrades in Cancer alongside the New Moon on July 14, inviting you to reconsider long-held assumptions about success, security, and what gives your life meaning. Because Mercury rules your sign, this retrograde may feel especially personal. Rather than seeing delays as obstacles, consider them invitations to listen more deeply. Dreams, memories, and quiet moments of reflection offer guidance. Jupiter’s entrance into Leo brings warmth, optimism, and renewed enthusiasm to your communication, writing, teaching, speaking, and community life. Curiosity expands. Connections grow. Opportunities arrive through conversations. When the Sun joins Jupiter on July 22, your voice naturally carries greater confidence and inspiration. What you share may encourage others in ways you cannot yet imagine.

Cancer (Jun 21–Jul 21): Dear Cancer, this is your month. With the Sun traveling through your sign until July 22, life invites you to return to yourself. Birthdays are always a new beginning. The New Moon in your own sign on July 14 marks a deeply personal renewal. Joined by Mercury retrograde, it encourages reflection before action. Rather than rushing toward new goals, allow yourself time to listen. The wisdom emerging now is subtle, arriving through dreams, memories, meaningful conversations, and quiet intuition.
