Astrology for June

June begins under the waning full Blue Moon in Sagittarius

June begins under the waning “Blue Moon”

Venus and Jupiter approaching conjunction June 9th, 25 Cancer

Now and for the next 2 weeks is a wonderful time to observe Venus and Jupiter, the two bright planets, come closer and closer together at twilight in the West, 25 Cancer.

June begins with the Sun in breezy Gemini, highlighting energy that seeks connection, sharing ideas, the written and spoken word, and movement in general, whether of mind or body. The Sun having conjuncted Uranus on May 22, describing uncertainties and sudden changes, now sextiles Saturn in Aries, settling into a steadiness. For this week the Sun and Saturn harness and direct outgoing energies, into productive channels.

Mercury has just entered Cancer where thinking can become more creative and imaginative, but communicating feeling will take more reflection. The big event of beautiful Venus and Jupiter conjuncting takes place on June 9th.  (Look to the West after sunset to watch them come closer and closer together). It feels like we can all benefit from their gifts of well being, seeing the good, and finding positive support, in other words, love.

Chiron enters Taurus from Aries on June 19th. The last time Chiron entered Taurus was in 1976, staying through 1984. Chiron will dip back into Aries from September 2026-April 2027, when it then fully enters Taurus. This marks an important shift in the theme of the wounded healer, moving out of wounds around the masculine and aggression to highlight wounds and healing around the earth, the environment, use of resources, and how we value the Earth itself.

Uranus squares the nodes exactly on June 12th, though it’s influence with the nodes may have begun in early May through late July. A planet located there, squaring the nodes,  becomes highly significant because it is neither aligned with the past (South Node) nor the future direction (North Node), but instead creates tension and demands conscious integration. Symbolically, Uranus squaring the nodes often corresponds to a collective evolutionary crossroads; a moment when the future cannot emerge through existing structures. Something disruptive, awakening, or destabilizing enters the field and forces a reorientation. (It’s interesting this influence is taking place during the midterm elections.) (The last time Uranus squared the nodes was in 2007-2008!)

The summer Solstice is a celestial turning point that takes place on June 21st. It’s chart and description is below.

Mercury retrograde in Cancer begins on June 29th through July 23rd and Jupiter enters Leo on June 29th. More details below.

Jun 29 – Mercury goes retrograde – at 26 Cancer. Time to reflect upon inner feelings, and take dream time to feel into situations. Mercury retrogrades back to 16 Cancer and goes direct on July 23rd. An interesting time for Mercury, for what we are considering and reviewing, as it is in Cancer from June 1 – August 9, which is a lengthy time for Mercury, who loves clarity of intellect, to be submerged in deep waters of the psyche. It’s also interesting that during election midterms Mercury is transiting all the USA planets in Cancer which includes the Sun and the Mercury Pluto opposition, putting us in a position to reconsider our values, financial situations and relations to each other.

Jun 29 – Full Moon in Capricorn – This full Moon in Capricorn can ground our imaginings. It dreams of what it wants to build, organize, or shape into something real. The Capricorn Cancer pairing, is fertile, holds the inner and the outer, sensitivity and responsibility, and can parent us into wholeness. It’s a careful balance between feeling and accomplishing. The full Moon’s square to Neptune brings in empathy, and inclusive feeling, while the Capricorn teaches us positive boundaries so we don’t become overwhelmed. Instead we are alert to the larger whole.

June 29 – Full Moon at 8 Capricorn, 4:57 pm PDT

Here, it supports more creative expression, more generous and wise leadership. It becomes playful and can be quite dramatic, favoring the expressive arts. It’s shadow side is pride and overdoing.
