Astrology for March

March begins with a total Lunar Eclipse in earthy Virgo

“Blood Moon”

In the stillness before dawn on March 3rd, a lunar eclipse, “Blood Moon”, a Full Moon in Virgo, reaches its peak at 3;37 am, on the West Coast, as the shadow of the Earth slowly darkens the face of the Moon. Step outside and feel into this larger mysterious universe in which we live, during the very early hours on March 3 to see the Blood Moon darkened by the shadow of our Earth. Lunar eclipses often stir deep emotional tides, especially for those sensitive to the rhythms of the Moon. At this time we can become more aware of what has been hidden beneath the surface, creative revery, and deep feelings. We can also experience subtle worries, self-criticism, or old emotional patterns that pull us away from the immediacy of the present moment. Yet this heightened sensitivity is an invitation to see more clearly, as well as to move into imaginative spaces.

With a gathering of planets moving through boundless, feeling Pisces, opposite the grounded clarity of Virgo, we may sense both compassion and overwhelm, a heightened awareness of our own inner states and the collective emotional atmosphere around us. When feelings become diffuse or difficult to sort through, Virgo offers a quiet remedy: gentle order, simplicity, and care for the small details of daily life. This eclipse favors clearing and cleansing, physically and emotionally, letting go of clutter, refining habits, and paying attention to the rhythms of health, work, and rest.

Rather than pushing forward, this eclipse invites us to slow down and listen inwardly. In the stillness we may discover unexpected guidance through dreams, subtle intuitions, and meaningful coincidences. It is a potent moment for restoring balance between body, soul, and spirit, allowing insight to arise naturally rather than forcing answers.

On a personal level, this Lunar Eclipse invites quiet reflection. You might ask yourself:

  • What is ready to be completed or released?
  • Where do I feel overwhelmed, and how might I slow the pace?
  • What small practical steps would bring greater clarity and order to my days?
  • How might I simplify my routines and care more consciously for my well-being?
  • In what ways do I feel called to be of service now?

Under this Eclipse we can initiate a gentle realignment, a time to clear space so that what truly matters can quietly come into focus.

March 3 – Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo, 3:37 am PST

Affirmation for Lunar Eclipse in Virgo

“I experience the potency of this time of change and renewal. I make time to reflect, complete, and find an inner grounding and pacing to move forward step by step.”.

Celestial Events for March

Mar 4 – Venus at 27 Pisces sextiles Uranus in Taurus – empathy is balanced by spaciousness in relating. Unique artistic creations.

Mar 5 – The Sun at 15 Pisces trines Jupiter in Cancer – a day for deep enjoyment, especially for family and those you feel nurtured by.

Mar 6 – Venus enters Aries – A sudden change in relationships, what was slowed and empathetic now craves independence, love of movement and adventure. She says, “Let’s go and explore!”

Mar 7 – The Sun conjuncts Mercury retrograde at 16 Pisces – Beginning of a new cycle. The Sun gives Mercury a new message to carry through the next 5 months. Checking in at deeper levels of awareness, ‘what needs to grow?’ What insights come to you today?

Mar 7 – Venus conjuncts Neptune at 1 Aries – Idealistic love, imaginative new creative expressions and beginnings.

Mar 8 – Venus conjuncts Saturn at 2 Aries – Practicality tests ideals in relationship.

Mar 8 – Mercury retro at 15 Pisces trines Jupiter retro in Cancer – Great time for reflection, writing and editing, storytelling and sending caring messages.

Mar 10 – Jupiter goes direct at 15 Cancer – Strong energy for nurturing yourself and others.

Mar 15 – Mercury retro conjuncts Mars at 10 Pisces – Sharp words, direct communications, reviewing actions taken.

Mar 18 – The Sun at 28 Pisces sextiles Uranus in Taurus – a day for honoring your uniqueness, try something new, lean into possibilities.

Mar 18 – New Moon in Pisces, sextile Uranus – The New Moon at 28° Pisces marks a time of gathering inward and distilling the essence of a collective cycle that is coming to completion. This final degree of Pisces carries a sense of closure and invites reflection, surrender, an honoring of what has been lived, along with clearing and completing.

By evening the Moon enters Aries, and in the early morning hours it joins Saturn and Neptune, signaling the threshold between endings and beginnings of a much greater cycle, a process that will intensify as the Sun activates these same planets within days right after the Spring Equinox on March 20th.

The Pisces New Moon forms an exact sextile to Uranus, opening pathways for breakthrough and inviting us to lean toward new possibilities. The larger Aries vortex alignment — linking Uranus, Pluto, Saturn, and Neptune — is stirred into motion, bringing a sense of acceleration and testing what is now taking shape. We are in an in-between time of potent endings and fiery and dramatic, but also subtle and less visible, new beginnings.

Take this day to enter the imaginative Piscean waters. What is ready for completion so that a new dream, vision, or ideal may be born?”

March 18 – New Moon at 28 Pisces, 5:24 PM PST

Affirmation for New Moon in Pisces

“I make time and space for inner reflection, listening to the guiding voice within, to what needs completion and to what is wanting to be born on my life journey.”

Mar 20 – The Sun enters Aries, Spring Equinox, day equals night. On the Spring equinox the Sun rises due east – We begin a new round of development as spring unfolds.

Potent Spring Equinox

At the Spring equinox, the Sun enters Aries. As it enters Aries it actives the new 36 year cycle we are entering, the dissolving of the old and  re-imaging the future which will carry us into a new era. It’s time to ask ourselves, “What kind of world are we creating for ourselves and future generations?” This alignment illuminates the potency of this time, bringing a season of change.

What fresh insights are leading you forward? It is interesting that Mercury at 8 Pisces goes direct this day, suddenly freeing up our communications to move forward after a period of review from February 25. What has been rethought or recognized during this period? How have you refined ideas or insights you have been working with?

Mercury is now conjunct the North Node in Pisces. The North Node is our growth point, for both our personal and collective destiny. How are we hearing each other? What deeper currents of perception are we sharing with each other?

Mar 20 – Mercury goes direct – 12:33 pm – Mercury direct at 8 Pisces – (see above)

Mar 21 – Mars at 15 Pisces trines Jupiter in Cancer – This is a day for taking big actions. It’s a day where protection of others may be in the forefront.

Mar 22 – The Sun conjuncts Neptune at 1 Aries – As the Sun conjuncts Neptune (which it does once a year) it highlights Neptune’s essence of feeling into the bigger spiritual reality in which we live. It can draw out compassion and imagination. We may yearn for unstructured time and space, for meditation, reverie, and creativity. We want to keep ourselves grounded as it’s influence can overwhelm or bring confusion. Not a good time to make big decisions.

Mar 25 – The Sun conjuncts Saturn at 4 Aries – Within days the undefined energy of Neptune is brought to a focus with the Sun conjuncting Saturn. This is a time to slow and consider the new beginnings we are creating. A good time for scheduling, planning, and structuring how we will proceed with the new beginnings we are wanting to put into place.

Mar 25 – The Sun at 5 Aries sextiles Pluto in Aquarius – a day for transforming, turning the soil over, clearing and releasing, letting go, making room for new energy to be empowered.

Mar 26 – Venus conjuncts Chiron at 25 Aries – Adventurous Venus brings healing of strife to relationships, and love to our wounded parts so we may experience self acceptance and freedom in being ourselves.

Mar 28 – Saturn at 5 Aries sextiles Pluto in Aquarius – what is being transformed has the opportunity for manifesting into a new form, system, structures. These two powerful archetypes of transformation and wisdom now work together.

Mar 30 – Venus enters Taurus – Out of Aries into Taurus. What a difference! Do you feel it? Venus is in its own sign in Taurus. Here it’s essence can express itself, seeking harmony, creating beauty, announcing nature’s orchestration of smells and sights as life awakens in spring and blossoms. Find ways to enjoy the beauty of the garden, of earth, sea, and sky. Paint, dance, create music.

Apr 1 – Full Moon in Libra – The full Moon in Libra takes place on April Fools day. The Aries nature (now with the Sun in Aries) is like the Fool of the Tarot, trusting instinct, on a journey, growing through trial and error. The Moon in Libra is like the Tarot card Karma, or Justice, highlighting that side of Libra which seeks balance and truthfulness, the law of right human relations. Being human, we grow as we balance these two energies in our lives.

Under the Libra full Moon we find enjoyment with others, with the people we care for. It carries a gentle thoughtful energy to the impulsive bold energy of Aries. It seeks aesthetic harmony, and pauses the hurried forward movement to reflect on consequences and quality of life presence. How do we find balance within ourselves of these two energies? When and how are we bold, true to ourselves in word and action, and when do we pause and reflect to consider the quality of the moment, to think also of others and their needs before responding?

Within days of the Sun conjuncting Saturn, it ‘carries the light’ to the square with Jupiter in Cancer. This ‘carrying of the light’ by the Sun from one planet to another will accentuate the aspects of this square, bringing out the need to slow, carefully consider and decide our next steps.
