Venus retrograde in Libra at this time!

Venus Retrograde in Libra opposes break-through planet, Uranus! Expect the unexpected, and radical turn of events, especially in regards to standing up for core human values, relatedness with each other

On November 1st Venus rises as a morning star after being an evening star since February. During its retrograde cycle it disappears from the Western evening skies for 9 days, conjoins the Sun in the unseen world and rises reborn as a morning star, still retrograde until November 16th.

This period of time marks a need to reverse the tide and reevaluate where we are collectively and personally. Often there are important changes and reversals happening during these dates, as well as shifts in outlook. We reestablish what is most valuable to us, especially in how we relate to ourselves, to our inner creative spirit, and to each other. So interesting that this is taking place at election time.

After the massacre at the Tree of Life Synagogue, we see the protests, people standing for a more profound valuing of life, and for consciousness around the use of words and rhetoric. This is especially focused on the President who has used rhetoric to stir up hate and fear, frustration and anger. (Frustration and anger, of course, are energizing emotions, which Trump is utilizing in order to gain political victory, especially to save himself from impeachment.)

Venus began it’s retrograde in Scorpio, the most intense and sensitive of the feeling signs, the sign of intimacy, of sex and death, of power and powerlessness. It activates our hidden unconscious responses in order to stimulate release and conscious renewal.

The Mayans created their complex and precise long calendar around the Venus cycles. They believed that when Venus rose as a morning star that armies were sent marching (Trump is sending 5,000 troops to the border, a “trumped up” pretense to fend off the invaders at the border, all for political purposes). The Mayans also believed that when Venus rose as a morning star there would be a major fall or change in power. Very interesting this is taking place at election time.

If you can tune into the more refined frequency of awareness and consciousness Venus provides then this retrograde asks us to be attentive to each other, compassionate to the challenges of being human. Venus retrograde wants us to become aware of our connection, our similarities, our vulnerabilities and fragility, the power of our endurance and strength to attune to that which leads us into rebirth.

Now Venus finishes its retrograde phase by entering Libra, the sign of balance and constant thoughtfulness of ‘other’. After the intensity of dark Scorpio, seeing what needed to be exposed, released, or transformed, we move into rebalancing, taking up these values in relationship and justice.

Jupiter into Sagittarius:

Jupiter stays in one sign for 12 months. Jupiter has been in water sign, Scorpio, since October 2017. It moves into fire sign Sagittarius on November 8th. Jupiter enlarges the expression of the sign it inhabits, therefore since October 2017 we entered into Scorpio territory: issues of power and powerlessness, of penetrating insight into the darker recesses of habituated and repressed responses to life situations, and of death and renewal. Scorpio is an emotional sign of great intensity, ruled by the planets Mars, warrior, and Pluto, the intense God of the underworld. Now with Jupiter moving into its own sign, (meaning Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius), we move into expanded rather than underground territories. We gain a greater view and perspective. Optimism increases. Over all this can be a more hopeful time. The challenge of Sagittarius is that people can adhere self-righteously to their belief systems, as if their belief system, whether religious, political or intellectual is “the right” one. We watch for this extremism. The great metaphysical, psychological, and systems philosopher, Ken Wilbur, relates that when world-views or personal views perceive more unity, then consciousness is increased. Systems or views that polarize are lower on the consciousness level.

On a personal level: Think back over the last twelve months, What realizations have taken place? What have you let go of? What has left your life? What issues have arisen or clarified or transformed in relationship and intimacy? How have you understood your relationship with power versus powerlessness? What have you seen that wasn’t visible to you before?

Jupiter in Sagittarius is like being on the mountaintop. How’s the view? What realization have you had about the way to proceed? What are you trusting in to sustain your faith in your journey? How flexible are you with changing situations or terrains? Sagittarius is a mutable sign, so flexibility is an important quality as you cultivate confidence in your journey, taking risks, and trusting the deeper wilder parts of your self or instincts.

The Twelve signs for November 2018: For Sun and Rising Signs

Aries (Mar 20-Apr 19): Dear Aries, this month let yourself surrender intensity of response to a deeper witnessing, a broader vision, at peace with the day. With Mars, your planet, entering Pisces on the 15th, imagination heightens, tolerance increases, and you may find a resting place, where your normal Aries business moves into a feeling of more unity with your surroundings. At the new moon in Scorpio attune to the intimate encounters in relationship. Here again there is something you can release. Could it be defensiveness?

Taurus (Apr 20-May 20): For you, dear Taurus, during November, you yearn to break through, to free yourself from restrictions and yet you are also sensitive and potentially in tune with others. How to find the balance??? Let yourself be open and vulnerable, settling your heart. From here go into the imaginative realms, unconditional acceptance, maybe even radical acceptance that breaks the containment of your usual Taurian self. To what benefit you might ask? You will be rewarded with broader understanding and the freedom you are looking for.

Gemini (May 21-Jun 20): Dear Gemini, search your consciousness for ways to align more deeply with the flow within your daily life. Something is waiting to be surrendered and transformed! A habit, a routine, a scattered busyness. The full Moon in Gemini lights you up. You find enjoyment with others or the one you love. And yet with radical Uranus demanding freedom and spaciousness juxtaposed to the planet of love and relatedness Venus in Libra, you can carefully balance between the extremes.

Cancer (Jun 21–Jul 21): Dear Cancer, now’s the time to take your deep feeling and channel through your heart into love and creative projects. What does your heart say? Now is the time to find the words, the rhythm, the colors and the sound. Seed the month with your creativity. With Jupiter entering Sagittarius let yourself travel in imaginative fields. Create the space, letting Saturn in Capricorn help you structure your schedule. With Mars entering Pisces and with Venus soon to enter Scorpio again, let your feelings be the boat that carries you on the waters of creative expression and love.

Leo (Jul 22 – Aug 22): Dear Leo, this month you may be feeling increased affection in family and for your home. The potential here is for transformation and change at core levels. What could it be for you? Something is revealed so greater understanding and revelation takes place. Mid-November, with the Sun entering Sagittarius along with Jupiter and Mercury, you are jazzed. Creative fires are available. Take further risks. The energy is mounting and growing. Seek new sights and places. All feeds your heart. Change takes place.

Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 22): Dear Virgo, your insight deepens. Your mind penetrates into hidden areas. Your vision broadens. Don’t get stuck in distractions. As Mercury retrogrades on the 16th you go into review of subjective perceptions. It is an excellent time to take your writng out for review, editing, and fine tuning. Your creative projects now need completion! With the completed form comes the sharing that brings positive response. At the full moon you are busy with family and gatherings. Enjoy!!

Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22): Dear Libra, the time is now, with Venus retrograde returning to Libra, to value yourself. Changes want to occur in the way that you move forward in life. The reevaluation period that you have been through, the emphasis on what the Scorpio energy has shown you, and the insight given to you in these last months help this next stage. You are creating a new foundation for yourself. All change is supported by Saturn right now. Create that steady, on going organization and focus to bring the revelations and changes into your life that you so look forward to.

Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21): Dear Scorpio, Happy Birthday! With the Scorpio New Moon on the 7th aligning with dreamy Neptune, take some time to move into romantic and imaginative release from daily life. With your ruling planet, Mars, in Aquarius, remember to step back from the emotional depths of feeling to observe life and events around you as if from above. Cultivate the witness within you. The Gemini Full Moon asks for balance between your needs and the changing, rearranging needs of others! What a great month to bring forth your talents! Take a risk!!

Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 20): Dear Sagittarius, It looks like you are nourishing and renewing yourself before Jupiter enters Sagittarius on the 8th. Once every twelve years Jupiter enters your sign! Now is the time to expand your opportunities. Reach out to others. If appropriate, promote yourself and your talents. People will feel your confidence and want to extent openings and other possibilities to you. This is also a time of learning, studying, and teaching. All these topics are now beneficial for you. The only thing to watch for is overdoing, over eating, or over committing. What a great time to enjoy yourself or travel to new places.

Capricorn (Dec 21- Jan 19): Dear Capricorn, you now move forward with steady progress. Wild and visionary, creative and break-through Uranus aligns with steady, step by step Saturn in Capricorn to bring into form whatever inspires you. Join with others at the New Moon in Scorpio for inspiration, and dreaming together. This is well supported. Be flexible in relationships as all are unpredictable now. But your planet, Saturn, will steady you, supporting greater patience and awareness. At the full Moon seed and affirm what you want to bring into your life. The Sun conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius helps you to envision what’s ahead and ask for guidance, as well as the alignment and confidence you need to navigate the month and year ahead.

Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 17): Dear Aquarius, Mars leaves Aquarius on the 15th. Situations then can slow a bit for you. In fact, what a great idea! Now, you can move into your imaginative revelry, allowing your dreaming self, that pokes your head through to other realms of feeling and knowing, to shift the mood and the energy. With Venus opposing your planet Uranus, you now balance your need for freedom with demands of relationship. During the last month what have you noticed in relationships? Did you feel well balanced between the two? What changes do you need to make? The full moon is an excellent time to join with friends or groups and celebrate creativity!!

Pisces (Feb 18-Mar 19): Dear Pisces, the New Moon on the 7th brings a sweetness into your heart. What a great time to reaffirm what is deeply meaningful to you in this life. What a good time to learn, teach, study and travel. On the 15th Mars enters Pisces and energizes you. What would you like to accomplish? Mars enters your sign once every two years. It activates your desires and your drives to move and get things going. Around thanksgiving Mars aligns with Jupiter and it looks like you can handle a big project. (Maybe all the family is coming over). It looks fun. Enjoy!
